| Under the supervision
of the Laboratory Manger, a Research Chemist I assists in
managing the day-to-day operation of the business, lead complex
projects, performs complex procedure, and develops methods,
which result in total customer and supervisor satisfaction
and meet or exceed project economic performance criteria.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Design
and lead complex projects that result in total customer
and supervisor satisfaction and meet or exceed project
economic performance criteria.
Interface
with clients to develop and manage projects
Use
experience and judgment to perform complex method development
projects
Initiate
new methods that will improve business
Perform
complex analyses and procedures by HPLC, and GC
Produce
accurate, traceable, and defendable results on time and
under GLP conditions, if necessary.
Provide
training to the division staff including reviewing data
Initiate
appropriate communications with customers and respond to
all customer requests as necessary and/or as directed by
supervisor
Write
reports, methods and protocols
Maintain
instruments and equipment so that they are continuously in
good working order
Maintain
a safe and clean laboratory environment
Follow
appropriate SOPs, SMs, and protocols
Supervise
staff as required
Travel
as required
Work
as a team with all staff to accomplish position and business
objectives

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D. with 2-4 years experience, MS with 6-8 years experience, BS with 8-10 years experience, Chemistry or Food Science related field, or a combination of education and experience indicating an ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical
scientific procedures, or government regulations; communicate
effectively in both written and oral form; compose quality
written materials; respond to inquiries or complaints from
clients; and, effectively present information to clients,
potential clients, and other members of staff.

and economic value, evaluate current methods to produce quality
results, initiate new methods that will improve the business,
maintain and improve profession competency, maintain a safe
and orderly work environment, maintain laboratory records,
write and review SOPs and SMs, operate personal computer
and laboratory instruments and equipment.
