Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor a Microbiologist is responsible for performing and coordinating routine and complex analyses and procedures. This position will have the maximum responsibility level in General Microbiology, which will include accurate and detailed training of new technicians, data reporting duties as well as primary responsibility of special projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Prepare samples and perform routine and complex microbiological analyses
Knowledge of media preparation
Perform microbial identification and enumeration
Ability to coordinate daily tasks and special projects
Produce reliable and accurate reports
Ability to interact with clients in a professional and technical manner
Maintain instruments and equipment so that they are continuously in good working order
Provide a leadership role in quality program
Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment
Ensure that SOPs, Standard Methods, and protocols are understood and followed
Provide training and technical support for technicians as directed by the Laboratory Manager
Work as a team with all staff to accomplish position and business objectives
Microbiologist must be able to describe, perform and train others on the following analysis:

Education/Experience:
BS in Microbiology, Food Science or other related field. A minimum of 5 years experience in a food microbiology laboratory is essential to perform the required functions of the position.
