Alan Roberts

Alan Roberts, President of The National Food Lab, is a passionate leader with a strong background in the food industry. Growing up in a family involved in food packaging and glass bottle manufacturing, he developed a love for the food business early on. Alan holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Lehigh University.

During his career, he has worked with Competitive Technologies, Alimenterics, and National Starch (then part of Unilever), gaining extensive experience in technology transfer, start-ups, and consumer polymers.

Before joining The NFL, he spent eight years at Covance in their nutritional chemistry, microbiology, and pharmaceutical development units. Alan sees The NFL as much more than just a food lab, with capabilities in supplements, packaging evaluation, pet food, and consumer products like cosmetics, personal care, and home care.

He thrives on the risk, uncertainty, and speed of startup ventures and is excited to creatively solve tomorrow’s challenges with his team. Alan can be reached at [email protected] or 608-695-9028.
