Ed Collins is the Director of Product and Process Development at The National Food Lab, Inc. (NFL), where he has been an integral part of the team for over 15 years. With a focus on product and process development, Ed works closely with clients across various industries, including foods, beverages, supplements, and ingredient technology.
One of Ed’s key responsibilities is to oversee business development activities at The NFL’s three product and process development sites in Ithaca, NY, Lafayette, CO, and Naples FL. He also collaborates closely with the consumer research team to understand consumer perception of new products and concepts, which helps him to focus development efforts.
Before joining The NFL, Ed led new product and process development activities for Ingredion’s instant starch products, where he played a pivotal role in growing the division by 40% over 5 years. He achieved this by working directly with clients to identify performance requirements and developing new products to meet their needs. Ed began his career in the food industry working on sugar reduction with General Foods and later moved on to strategic research, evaluating new process technologies for products in the Kraft General Foods portfolio.
